City of Eveleth Public Works Director Position

The city of Eveleth is seeking an outstanding candidate for a full-time Public Works Director. This position is responsible for the planning, supervision and coordination of the city’s public infrastructure including streets, water, sewer sanitation, stormwater, refuse, cemetery, parks, Hippodrome ice arena, golf course, campground and overall building maintenance. Manages public works budget and inventory and plans for capital improvements.  This position is part of the United Steels Workers supervisory bargaining unit.

Minimum Qualifications: Two years of college or vocational training in construction, maintenance, engineering, or repair and six years of progressively responsible supervisory experience preferably in a public works environment.  A bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field may substitute for equal amount of required experience.  Must be able to obtain a Minnesota Class B Commercial Drivers License within one year.

Salary range from $41.90 to $55.66 per hour.  The city provides a competitive benefits package, including medical, dental, life, leave plans, including ESST and paid holidays, PERA for qualified employees.
